I thought I knew England. I’ve lived here for decades. However, there are always new and wonderful discoveries to be made.
This year, I discovered the Ashdown Forest (East Sussex) and it’s lovely. It was the inspiration for A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh books which he wrote for his son, Christopher. I was thrilled to walk a mile or so from the attractive village of Hartfield through fields and woodland to reach the bridge where pooh sticks were, and still are, played.
